About Karen Smale

Karen Smale

I'm drawn to nature and have been making pictures of the details of the natural world ever since I can remember. I'm also a sucker for abstract scenes and "why-would-you-even-take-that-picture?" environments. I am fortunate enough to be able to travel regularly, and I am particularly fond of obsessing over the details of the plants or architecture I encounter while most people take in the bigger picture. But mostly I am attracted to the beauty in the mundane and strive to make compelling images of everyday objects and environments.
